We are currently looking to recruit the following positions:-

PART TIME HOST, PERMANENT

Salary -£13,908.34 to £14,485.58 per annum
Hours- 28 hours per week, variable working from Monday to Sunday including evenings

Our busy Cafe Bar and Box Office requires a part-time Host.

You will be able to stimulate ticket sales by the efficient facilitation of ticket bookings and the welcoming and effective operation of the Cafe Bar. You must have experience of directly dealing with customers and possess good basic IT knowledge.

An ability to work well under pressure is a must, as is a good telephone manner and an ability to show initiative. Although previous experience of working with ticketing software is an advantage, this is not essential as full training will be provided.
An ability to work well under pressure is a must, as well as great customer service skills and having previous bar experience is desired.

CASUAL DUTY FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER, £11.55 PER HOUR

The Playhouse requires casual Duty Front of House Managers for shows that primarily are evening and weekend but can occasionally be daytime.

The Duty Front of House Manager is the senior member of staff responsible for the Front of House during performances. The position involves supervising staff and volunteer ushers, and liaising with visiting companies regarding programme and merchandise sales. The Duty Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Health and Safety of audiences.

Ideally you should have management or supervisory experience, preferably in a leisure or entertainment venue and proven ability to provide a high standard of customer care.

If successful in your application you will be required to undertake a 1-day personal license holder course and a 3-day first aid course as part of the role.

CASUAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, £11.93 PER HOUR

Harlow Playhouse is looking to expand its team of experienced casual technicians to help with the backstage responsibilities of running this increasingly busy venue. You will be working with people who have an established reputation as one of the best and most customer focused teams in the county.

Responsible to the Technical Manager, duties will include assisting ‘get-ins’ and ‘get-outs’, Lighting, Sound or Flys operation and Stage Management.

Knowledge of technical theatre is essential to this role and the ideal candidate will have experience of working backstage in a theatre environment or have completed a recognised technical theatre qualification.

TECHNICIAN, FIXED TERM

Production: ‘The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride’ by Kevin James

A piece of new writing with three cast members in a fun-filled, sing-along, interactive festive show for 2-6 year olds. Premiered at Harlow Playhouse in 2018.

Dates: 7th December 2021 to 29th December 2021 – Further details provided in production dates document.

Pay: £1,217.85 plus £146.99 holiday pay (Accommodation and travel is excluded – this cost will not be incurred by Harlow council)

Harlow Playhouse is recruiting a Technician to be part of the team on this year’s Christmas children’s show; The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride.

Duties will include assisting in the get in, fit up and get out, updating the lighting and sound show files on an ETC Ion and Qlab, operating lighting and sound for the production. Liaising with the Front of House team for House opening and clearance.

STAGE CREW, FIXED TERM

Production: ‘Robin Hood’ Pantomime

Dates: 21st November 2021 to 4th January 2022 – Further details provided in production dates document.

Pay: £2,746.77 plus £331.54 holiday pay (Accommodation and travel is excluded – this cost will not be incurred by Harlow council)

Harlow Playhouse is recruiting Stage Crew to be part of the team on this year’s pantomime; Robin Hood.

Duties will include assisting in the get in, fit up and get out, changeover of each production, scene changes, maintenance of scenery and execute stage cues.

Wardrobe Assistant/Dresser, FIXED TERM

Harlow Playhouse is recruiting a Wardrobe Assistant/Dresser to be part of the team on this year’s pantomime; Robin Hood.

Working alongside the Wardrobe Supervisor duties will include assisting in costume fittings and alterations, source/make additional costume pieces as directed, clean and launder all costumes, and assist in dressing for the run. We require an organised, creative and proactive person to fulfil the role.
