Rory Davies

Artistic and Executive Director

Rory is the Artistic and Executive Director of Harlow Playhouse and is responsible for leading the team at the theatre and managing relationships with key stakeholders and external organisations. Rory works with the dedicated Harlow Playhouse team to provide excellent customer experience and strives to make Harlow Playhouse a centre of excellence.

Rory has been the Artistic and Executive Director at Harlow Playhouse since 2017. Prior to this he worked in general management and toured the UK as a production manager.

As a freelancer, he also worked as an Event Manager, Electrical Technician and Stage Manager. Rory has also been the Technical Director of Nationally Honoured inclusive theatre company Razed Roof.

Rory has been responsible for producing several family shows, including pantomime, at and for Harlow Playhouse and on tour.

In the subsidised sector Rory has commissioned I Talk to the Clouds and They Cry with Me by Rhiannon Faith, Wreckage by Tom Ratcliffe and has co-produced several shows including Prom Kween, With One Look and Drowntown. Rory is enthusiastic about working with and developing artists and as such has mentored many of Harlow’s emerging artists.

Rory has provided management consultancy for various companies.

Rory is a professional member of UK Theatre and is on the Essex Power 100 list, recognising the most influential people in Essex.

Rory is a Trustee for the Livewire Theatre Trust, Governor of The Downs Primary School, Vice-Chair of Essex Police (Harlow) Independent Advisory Group representing Harlow Playhouse and the LGBTQ+ Community, and member of Harlow’s Cultural Leaders Group.
